Certified Golf Teaching Professional

Responsible for creating, scheduling, and running golf lesson programs for both adult and junior players. This includes, but is not limited to, group clinics and private lessons, and junior summer camps. You will also be expected, with the assistance of the Clubhouse Manager, to oversee the junior league and junior membership programs; hire camp counselors and volunteers; schedule shifts for camp counselors; and assist with any additional "grow the game" initiatives such as a junior tournament or the club championship event. This position requires the individual to be committed to growing the game of golf among youth and beginner players, and they must exhibit the attitudes stated in the Mission Statement towards the guests of the club and other staff members. 

Job Tasks/Duties:
1. Scheduling, organizing, and teaching private lessons and group clinics for both adult and junior golfers
2. Using professional judgment and experience to provide drills, practice routines, and create custom lesson plans for students of varying skills
3. Provide staffing and scheduling for camp counselors and volunteers with the assistance of the Clubhouse Manager
4. Oversee the organization of the junior league, with assistance from the Clubhouse Manager, which includes monitoring the registration process, creating tee time pairings, weekly organization and communication with parents, on-course games, and any other league management that is required.
5. Oversee the junior membership program, which includes monitoring the registration process, organizing a member swag bag, communicating with parents regularly, and providing excellent customer service to the members and their parents.
6. Oversee the junior summer camp program. This includes monitoring and organizing the registrations, ordering any equipment required for camp, providing support and training to lead counselors, hiring and scheduling volunteers for each week, creating a teaching schedule with various activities for each day at camp, supervising the kids while on the golf course, among other things.
7. Maintain a currently active and in good standing teaching certification from LPGA, PGA, or CGTF.
8. Keeping up to date with industry standards, creative ways of teaching, and thinking outside the box on how to grow the game of golf!

Applicants must be:

- Over the age of 22

- Hold a golf teaching certification in good standing (LPGA, PGA, CGTF)

- Have reliable transportation (We are not located on a bus route)

- Available to work varying shifts (Mornings, Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays)

- Be legally entitled to work in Canada

Junior Golf Assistant

Responsible for assisting with all junior golf programs. This includes summer camp, junior league, the junior membership program, and all related junior events held at the golf club. You will be asked to assist in the organization of these programs which will include ordering and packaging products for swag bags, regular excel spreadsheet manipulation, regular communication with junior golfers and their parents via email and/or phone, booking tee times, and other administrative duties when required. You will have support from the Clubhouse Manager with these tasks and the Head Teaching Professional.

Current positions available at Merry-Hill until the end of the 2021 season include:

Starter / Player's Assistant

This is an outdoor position that requires excellent organizational skills and a passion for customer service. They maintain COVID protocols for guest safety on the golf course.

Starters play a key role in ensuring that our first tees stay on time and that guests remain safe through COVID protocols on the golf course. This is an outdoor position that requires excellent organizational skills and a passion for customer service. Secondary duty is the Player's Assistant role which is responsible for maintaining the pace of play on the golf course, encouraging golfers to ensure they receive full enjoyment of the facility, and support all other departments in providing exceptional customer service. 

Current shifts we are looking to fill are:
- Monday mornings and cover where needed throughout the week
- Approx. 1-5 shifts/week (flexibility is important)
- Hours vary between 7:30 am - 6 pm and get shorter as the season closes

We are looking for the right candidate who would have experience in this role or have a full understanding of golf, be eager to learn, and will be able to fulfill the shifts provided above.

 

Simulator / Bistro Attendant

Merry Hill Golf Club is looking for Bistro Servers to join us for our first full season of Simulated Golf.

Duties for this job include:

- Cooking and preparing meals for counter service menu

- Light food preparation

- Restocking refrigerators and counter displays

- Maintaining AGCO requirements while serving alcohol

- Perform housekeeping duties

- Maintaining health board standards regarding food handling, preparation, and sanitation

-Follow and enforce Covid-19 Safety and Protocols.

-Sell Golf Merchandise

-Operate and teach customers how to use Golf Simulator (training will be provided)

Applicants must be:

- Over the age of 18

- Smart Serve Certified

- Willing to learn basic kitchen duties (light cooking, chopping vegetables, etc.)

- Have reliable transportation (We are not located on a bus route)

- Available to work varying shifts (Mornings, Evenings, Weekends, and Holidays)

- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
